Members of Waycross College’s men’s basketball team recently visited students at Williams Heights Elementary School. They read books to different classes, encouraged the students to stay in school, and shared what it’s like to be a college student athlete. Joe Williams, Andrei Hall, and Reco Lewis visited Mr. Randy Shelton’s kindergarten class as parapro Felices King looked on. The Swamp Fox mascot also made an appearance, visiting kindergarten students in Mrs. Janet Monroe’s and Mrs. Deena Roberson’s classes. Students were given time to question the players and even were able to get some autographs. The team’s visit is part of Head Coach Cory Baldwin’s philosophy of having his players become involved in the community. The Swamp Foxes’ inaugural season concluded Feb. 24, and the team finished with an overall record of 17-13. Waycross College has been a proud member of the University System of Georgia since the College’s founding in 1976.
