Waycross College Students

WC hosts PREP Day Camp

June 10, 2010

Waycross College’s Post-Secondary Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP) held its annual Day Camp for PREP students June 7 – 9 at Waycross College.

Students from Charlton, Clinch, Pierce, and Ware counties participated in three daily sessions of academic activities in the subjects of chemistry, mathematics, and physics.  Students also experienced lessons in the eyeQ program, which helps with reading speed and comprehension.

WC faculty members who served as instructors during the camp were Roberta Lacefield, associate professor of mathematics; Dave Lynn, instructor of information technology; Bernard Majdi, assistant professor of chemistry/biology; and Dr. Christopher Wozny, professor of chemistry/physics.

On the camp’s last day, students who completed all academic activities were treated to a day of educational fun at St. Simons Island.

PREP, an academic and outreach initiative designed to prepare middle and high school students and their parents for post-secondary education, was started at Waycross College in 1996.  For more information regarding the PREP program, contact Angela Holland-Wasdin, PREP coordinator, at (912) 449-7550.

Waycross College has been a proud member of the University System of Georgia since the college’s founding in 1976.
